The first shot

Maybe this blogging phenomenon has some merit to it. I have found in the past that mostly nonsensical rants and silly things of that nature have populated any of the amature blogs I have read in the past. Though this may be a way for people to get out their frustrations. I will attempt the same.

The past week has been a little eye opening. I ended one relationship, which honestly looked like it was going south anyway, but ended the week with a nice result (one which only a few people have been privy to). I intended to try to get some work done on the skit for my buddy Rob's show, but once again found myself strapped to a plastic guitar in front of my tv. Not that anything is wrong with that, but wasting away with that contraption is far less productive than actually putting the real guitar on and cranking away.

I attempted a while back to actually lay some guitar work down for the first new Gipid song in quite a while. I ran the chords down a few times but after failing to stay in time for more than three second bursts I quietly set my baby down and walked back out to the living room.

Writing is hard. Writing a song is impossible.

True enough words, but I always fancied myself a tackler of the impossible. I have tried to at least conjur some music from my fingertips, and have only met with limited success. I admire the musicians who are able to crank out quality songs every year. Key word there is quality though, because if I have to listen to more generic shit from the likes of Gavin DeGraw or those irrepressible Jonas Bros. I may haul off and punch something.

No, irrepressible isn't the right word. Damnable, yeah that's better. I get so tired of all the cycles of pop, hip hop, and rap that flow through the music charts. The pop scene is so fickle, revealing a new star one day and tossing them into the gutter the next. Same with hip hop. I asked a girl what her favorite artist was and she couldn't name one. She claimed it changes all the time.

That's what's wrong with that industry. There is no loyalty. In so many cases there seems to be a the lack of commitment. Very few artists actually stick around, and neither do their fans. Of course there are exceptions. I know a particularly odd fellow who still listens to Hanson... new Hanson.

Simply put I wish there would be more loyalty to the musicians in these genres. If there was more loyalty then maybe they would be inclined to produce quality music, rather than a music producer sitting in a dark room sipping brandy, gleaming over audience statistics to see what generic bs he can crank out that people will buy.

There, that seems sufficient. Maybe in the next post I will look for some semblance of self control and abide by normal storytelling rules. Or possibly I will simply write "cheese whiskers" thrity times and be done with it. Stay tuned.
